Family Law Appeals & QDRO

Family Law Appeals

At the S. M. Moran Law Office, P.C., we always work with our clients to ensure that the law has fully protected the children’s best interests, including their mental and physical well being. We ensure that the orders meet the bounds of the law and help clients to appeal when decisions are made which violate the laws which protect us.

The S.M. Moran Law Office, P.C. represented clients in mediation and trial at all areas of family law from 2009 until 2015. S. M. Moran Law Office, P.C. now only takes appeal cases.

Overall, we understand how challenging these situations can be, and not all cases are bad results simply because they are not the results our clients work. We work with the clients to identify the difference in the issues to ensure that their time and money will be well spent on fighting a battle to overturn the Court’s decision.

Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO)

In a divorce or legal separation, a qualified domestic relations order (QDRO) is entered to divide a spouse’s pension or retirement plan. Under this order, a retirement plan can be split, or ownership can be changed, so that each spouse receives their fair share of this marital asset.

QDROs are subject to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Internal Revenue Code, and state law, meaning three different bodies of law need to be considered when handling any QDRO issue.

Who We Represent

We represent husbands and wives, parents and grandparents, custodial parents and adoptive parents, guardians and conservators, and even surrogate mothers.
